The Heartland Spa & Fitness Resort offers 2, 3, 5 & 7 day wellness retreats. Our facilities include a health and fitness center that offers a wide variety of options, including group exercise and yoga classes, a heated indoor swimming pool, Himalayan salt sauna, whirlpool and fitness equipment. Seasonal activities include paddle boarding, biking and cross-country skiing.

We believe that a healthy lifestyle is an active lifestyle. Our programs are designed to get you moving. Whether you’ve been exercising for years, or are just starting out, there’s something for everyone at the Heartland Spa![custom_frame_right][/custom_frame_right] 

Activities galore at the Heartland Spa and Fitness Resort.Whether your goal is to lose weight, lower your blood pressure, increase lean tissue, reduce stress, or simply to feel better, your exercise program should be enjoyable. With a variety of fitness options from which to choose, our programs are designed to encourage you to try something new. In an environment filled with support and motivation, it is our hope that you will discover activities that you find challenging and fun, so you can continue your spa experience at home.

 

Heartland Class Offerings

African Dance – A high energy class driven by the rhythm and beat of the drums.

Aquacize – Making waves in the pool, fun and easy on the joints.

Barre – Fitness class that utilizes the use of a ballet barre. It looks easy because it takes muscle control.

Boot Camp – Follow a circuit of aerobic and strength exercises to boost metabolism and challenge your body.

Cardio Blast – An aerobics class which utilizes resistance tubing, intervals, plyometric moves  and core work.

Chakra Yoga – Poses are designed to open each of the seven major energy centers in the body, and develop awareness of energy flow. Gentle class appropriate for all levels.

Dynamic Stretch – Fluid, functional movements to massage your muscles, lubricate your joints; make life happy and healthy.

Fit Ball – This is play that engages your core and also promotes balance and stability.

Hatha Yoga – This class explores the historical origins of modern yoga. Learn about the fundamental principles that shape how we move and breathe in any type of yoga class.

Hi/Lo Aerobics – Combination of hi and lo impact aerobics. Pump energy. You know you love it!

HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training. This class is composed of a series of 20 second high speed moves followed by a 10 second rest period. Body weight exercises are alternated between these segments. The goal is to boost metabolism and build muscle strength.

Integrative Dance – Feel the flow; sometimes, smooth and tranquil and sometimes dynamic and strong as you discover, create and build energy throughout your body using natural movement patterns.

Mindful Yoga – Yoga as a meditation. Practice with a variety of breathing techniques and emphasis on listening to your own body. Special attention to the effects of micromovements and the inner landscape of the body.

Pilates – Learn, participate in and enjoy a beautiful practice of centering, concentration, control, breath, precision/efficient movement, fluidity and postural alignment.

Pilates to the Core – This is a mat class focusing on the core muscles of the abdominals, back and lower body.

Power Yoga – Hatha yoga that incorporates postures that focus on building strength.

Restorative Yoga – Gentle stretching using props to support the body. Appropriate for all levels.

Rise and Shine Yoga – Gentle movement designed to warm the body. Slow and controlled poses that connect to the breath. Appropriate for all levels.

Total Body Sculpting – This class uses resistance tubing and body weight exercises to sculpt and tone muscles. 

Vinyasa Yoga – Dynamic class that moves from pose to pose. A total body workout, this class will  produce internal heat and a detoxifying sweat to build endurance, strength, and flexibility. Appropriate for individuals who already practice yoga.

Yin Yoga – Passive practice that focuses on gently stretching the connective tissue around the joints. All poses are seated and are held for three to five minutes. A great complement to any strong, muscular activity. Appropriate for all levels.

Yoga for relaxation – A quiet class designed to calm the central nervous system and bring peace to body, mind and spirit. Appropriate for all levels.

Yogalaties – A perfect marriage of Yoga and Pilates.

Zumba® Fitness – When participants see a Zumba class in action, they can’t wait to give it a try. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

Zumba® Toning – When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs, glutes and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.
